About Me

My 4-legged Family
My 4-legged Family

I am in this to win this, and by that, I mean I am in this life to seek and obtain growth, fulfillment, and achievement of purpose. I am extremely excited to have found the Master Key Mastermind Alliance to surround myself with like-minded individuals who are forming a community to all raise each other up.

I was raised outside of Chicago and went to high school and college in Minnesota. In 2002, came to Austin, Texas, to complete an internship in animal-assisted therapy for my Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Studies which complimented my undergraduate in Applied Psychology Behavior Analysis. I LOVED the lack of ridiculous winter weather and have been in Austin ever since!

I worked as a Juvenile Probation Officer for 10 years and in 2008, I started a program where incarcerated teenagers trained shelter dogs for adoption to learn important life skills. The Kids-N-K9s program became my passion and a big part of my job. I left the county after 10 years to strike it out on my own. Though my first business venture into network marketing turned out to be a lesson rather than a success, it opened my eyes to the beauty of being my own boss and working from home. I started working as a dog behavior specialist out of my home and also started doing the Kids-N-K9s program as a independent contract provider rather than as an employee. I am seeking ways to expand myself so I can expand that program and help many more kids and dogs.

For fun, I like to compete in several sports with my dog, my favorite of which is dog agility (where they go over the jumps and weave through the poles). I have been a 3 time National Finalist and multiple Regional Champion and am looking to take it to the next level with my newest dog who is currently in training. I also love the outdoors and love to hike and kayak with my dogs, especially when we can do it with friends. Though I don’t do them as often as I’d like, I also like reading, scuba diving, skiing, and learning about new things.

I am excited to be in a transition phase of my life right now and am anxious to see the bigger, better opportunities I create for myself after participating in this class.

  1. Great pic with the dogs. I’m a huge dog lover myself, but don’t have any yet. So, with the help of my DMP, I’ve started volunteering at a local shelter and taking dogs for a walk. I love your program. Seems very worthwhile for both the dogs and the kids. Wish you continued success!
